The holidays are just around the corner, and many students at the University of Rochester who are renting rooms with Meliorent may be heading home to spend time with family and friends. If you plan to leave your home empty during the holidays, here are some essential tips to keep your space safe and secure while you're away.

Before leaving, make sure to plug in the webcams that were provided with the house. These cameras allow us to monitor the safety of the house and your belongings while you're away, giving you peace of mind. When you return, the first person coming back can simply turn off the cameras.
It’s also important to empty the garbage and bring the cans back behind the house to keep the property tidy and prevent any unwanted odors. Additionally, do not leave food items around the house as they can attract critters, creating a mess that nobody wants to deal with after the holidays.
To avoid any maintenance issues during your absence, leave the thermostat set at 55 degrees. This temperature helps reduce the utility bill while also ensuring the pipes don’t freeze in the cold Rochester weather.
Finally, don’t forget to notify the landlord at 650-296-9968 that the house will be empty. This simple step allows us to keep an extra eye on the property and ensure everything is in order while you're away.
By following these steps, you can enjoy a stress-free holiday knowing your Meliorent home is secure and well-maintained. Safe travels and happy holidays!
